I just came across two John Bennett vases while looking at an archived auction that took place at Christie’s auction house 10 years ago.

The two vases were lot 421. You can see them in the photo below (one on each side of Lot 437, another vase similar to John Bennett’s).  Lot 421’s estimate was $1,000 – $1,500 but realized $8,225. The vase in the center was estimated at $800 – $1,200. It realized $353 (a definite bargain!). Notice how it looks like a Bennett vase? That’s because it was Doulton Lambeth Faience, 1875. John Bennett was the art director of the Faience department at Doulton Lambeth at that time. He developed and taught this style to the Faience department!
